Rafi Ceylan

Died July 16, 2016 — son of Betty Ceylan, twin brother of Lucy Ceylan, brother of Armin Ceylan. The death, the will, the money, and every door his family has knocked on since. Every document named on this page is published on this site.

Do you know anything?

Rafi Ceylan died on July 16, 2016. No cause of death was ever established. His family — his mother Betty (Bercuhi) Ceylan, his twin sister Lucy, his brother Armin — is asking the public for help: information, witnesses, and document examiners. Everything on this page is drawn from the family's own record: the will, the coroner's file, the regulator's replies, and 42 catalogued recordings. If you know something — about the death, the will, the insurance, or the people below — come forward.

The people named in the family's record

  • Ivana Ceylan (Hrvatin) — Rafi's widow. Under the will produced after his death she is estate trustee and sole beneficiary of the residue; his mother, twin sister and brother are named nowhere in it.
  • Barton J. Seguin — Windsor lawyer. He witnessed the will (his wife Paula witnessed beside him), his letterhead forwarded the coroner's post-mortem report to Ivana, and he later acted as Ivana's lawyer in the estate — a May 12, 2019 email in the family's file is titled "Bart being removed as lawyer for ivana — ESTATE OF RAFFI CEYLAN."
  • Paula Seguin — witness to the will.
  • Elena O'Neill — Ivana's sister; substitute trustee and custodian of Rafi's children under the produced will.
  • Darrel John Lauzon — Rafi's business partner (Canard Holdings, Amherstburg). First in the door when Rafi died; a named party in the family's filed case.
  • Crystal Rivard — Rafi's secretary and office manager, with corporate signing powers. The family's record says she was tricked into signing documents she was told were a new policy for Rafi's son Ashton — and that she asked, on the record, what the blacked-out sections concealed. She is a witness the family points to.
  • Julie Triferis — Rafi's girlfriend; the first witness.
  • Bill Benson and Patrick Benson — named by Lucy Ceylan in her published posts as the Sun Life insurance agents on her brother's policy. Bill Benson is also a counterparty on the family's recorded calls (2017, 2021) — the catalogue describes him as the man "who says he saw what they did."
  • David Sundin · Dan Potvin · Danna Perron — counterparties on the family's recorded calls in the estate fight (see the recordings below).
  • Sun Life — the life insurer. The figure in the FSRA material: $607,228.70 — the record carries three figures that do not agree (Lucy states $600,000; an older published page said $707,000), and the disagreement is shown rather than smoothed over. The family's recorded calls to Sun Life — including to Carmen Yip, and a switchboard message for its president, Kevin Strain — are catalogued below.
  • The coroners — Dr. Emily Groot (her May 10, 2019 callback to the family is recorded), Dr. Bishwajit Bora, pathologist Dr. Martin Queen, Dr. David A. Cameron. The Chief Coroner is Dr. Dirk Webster Huyer.
  • Justice John Paul Howard — the Superior Court judge on the estate side of this file. His appointment notice (April 2, 2015) records that he came to the bench from Shibley Righton LLP in Windsor — the same firm Barton Seguin practised at, the firm the family visited to see Seguin about this estate.
  • FSRA — Ontario's financial regulator. It replied three times in May 2026 — intake answers only. No investigation was opened; no reference number was ever given.

Armin Ceylan's own list

Rafi's brother Armin — himself held by Windsor Police in December 2025 in a case built on words the family says exist nowhere — has named his own targets in his public posts of November 29, 2025: Windsor Police officer Dan Potvin; Chris Renaud; Daniel Merlot; Jason Bellaire; and Windsor's mayor, Drew Dilkens — "you will be in superior court soon." His words, his posts, his case — catalogued with this family's record because the same machinery runs through both.

Lucy Ceylan's own published posts (November 29, 2025) name two more from inside the machinery: Terri Seguin, identified there as a police officer, and Mary Jo Nolan, a retired judge — the same Mary Nolan whose status the family's Law Society calls asked about. Lucy's post states the family's charge against the Windsor Police in plain words: that Barton Seguin entered Rafi's house two days after his death and took his laptop, and that police protected him by calling a break-and-enter and theft "a civil matter."

How Raffi died — Julie's account

This is the account of Raffi Ceylan's death given by Julie Triferis, his girlfriend, the woman in the room — carried by his twin sister Lucy and told to Francesco Longo. It has never been published before, and the family states it was never investigated by the police.

July 16, 2016. Raffi had been out 4-wheeling all day with friends and his son. He came into the cabin to join Julie, jumping on the bed, playing around. He jumped off, ran over and closed the curtains — smiling. Then he turned around and froze solid. He could not move and could not speak, still smiling — paralysed, in the family's account, while remaining aware of everything. Julie said, "Come on Ralph, stop goofing around" — she thought he was playing. She jumped off the bed and nudged him; he fell to his knees and vomited white foam, and she screamed for help. First in the door was Darrel Lauzon. They tried to resuscitate him — too much vomit — put him in a vehicle and rushed for the hospital; the ambulance met them halfway and got stuck in mud.

Julie's own words, as carried in the family's record: "He was jumping around on the bed, making convulsive movements. I thought he was joking around at first. Then he collapsed suddenly."

Set against the documents: the coroner found no anatomical or toxicological cause of death; strychnine was never on the toxicology panel; and the autopsy records, at page 4, "Spinal Cord: Not examined." The account above is published as what it is — the direct witness's account, in the family's keeping — beside the parts of the official record that can be checked.

The recordings — 42 catalogued

The family's evidence includes 42 catalogued recordings. The full census is published in the evidence room. The recordings in question include:

  • Windsor Police Officer "Dan" — Frank's recorded call; the officer hung up on him. The family's January 2026 export quotes the call at 3:10: "Everything's been hidden from the courts."
  • Windsor Police Officer Roland, badge #20671 — Lucy's recorded call, reporting a breach.
  • "Manuel," OIPRD — the police-oversight body's recorded status-update call.
  • David Sundin — three recorded calls, December 2017, about a false affidavit; one is titled in the family's catalogue with his words: "we know they lied."
  • Bill Benson — recorded calls in 2017 and 2021; the catalogue describes him as the man "who says he saw what they did."
  • Dr. Emily Groot — the coroner's recorded callback, May 10, 2019 (released by the OCC on May 10, 2019 under coroner file 2016-8196).
  • Sun Life — recorded calls to Carmen Yip and to the switchboard for president Kevin Strain.
  • Ashley Dale and Zach Battison (Crown Attorney's office, Windsor) — recorded refusal calls in Armin Ceylan's matter. Prosecutors, not police — the record keeps the classes separate, and so does this page.

Were you on any of these calls? Were you told something about this death, this will, or this money that you have never said out loud? The family is asking you to say it now.

Document examiners — the will

The will as produced is published in the evidence room (PDF; a COPY watermark runs through every page; the file was created April 3, 2017 — nine months after Rafi's death). The family believes it is forged and asks any qualified document examiner who can assist to look at: the document's real year; the age of the ink; typed font laid over original writing; and changes in font size and style. If you can help, contact the family at the address above.

The unanswered core

  • No anatomical or toxicological cause of death was ever found. The autopsy records: "Spinal Cord: Not examined." The toxicology panel never tested for strychnine.
  • The Cardiology Genetics Report the coroner referenced in 2019 has never been produced.
  • The coroner's released statement is unsigned and undated.
  • The family's full account is on the Rafi Ceylan page. His family calls what happened murder — covered up for profit. What is documented, undisputed, and still unexplained is on this page — and it is enough to ask your question with: do you know anything?
